School Performances

Each year, approximately 2,400 children and adults see our full-length ballets and community outreach performances that provide professional training for talented local dancers and increased access to the arts in San Antonio, especially for low-income children and families in the inner city. SAYB allows young dancers to hone their craft and increase their competitiveness for college scholarships, membership in professional companies, and roles in local productions. In addition to staging fulllength productions of “The Nutcracker,”and “Cinderella,” each year, our company of 25 dancers ages 6-18 performs for approximately 40 schools and community organizations to spread knowledge and excitement about dance. We have enjoyed performing for non-profit partners such as Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio, San Antonio Battered Women and Children’s Shelter, Boysville, Martinez Street Women’s Center and in community venues such as Barnes & Noble, the McNay Art Museum, the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, the Carver Community Cultural Center, and Brackenridge Park, providing free performances that introduce individuals and families to dance, sometimes for the first time.
